Update 9/16/22
Hi Folks, it has been way too long since I have updated this page, now that we’re moved into our new home and gotten a good deal of the necessary stuff out of the way I will be spending a lot more time updating things and also getting back to my other writing projects. Meanwhile, I have exciting news that I am totally pumped about. When we bought our home we had several goals: having creative space for my writing and my wife’s growing business, homesteading, and helping others reach a more self-sustaining lifestyle.
We have chosen to call our home Dragonwood and the project to share information and skills towards self-sufficiency, The Dragonwood Institue for Learning. As I add to this section of the website more links and updates will be provided on a regular basis.
I now have made a place in our new home where I can write and be creative. This consists of my studio (writer’s den) with an attached space for entertaining, as well as two workshops one in the basement for general usage and a full workshop/garden space outside. Any of you that are homeowners know that this is process is never entirely complete, but at this stage we are now functional to pursue our goals. Yay!!
This past week the first official class was held. I am working with my niece (11) and my nephew (14) to develop a curriculum. They and my granddaughter (6+ years old) worked with me over the summer to get Dragonwood up and running and to successfully prove out the concept of training children early on to work ethic and the idea that they can make a contribution, work independently or as a team and change their own environment with a little guidance. More on this later…
There will be a section in the gallery devoted to the transformation of these spaces as well as supporting photos of the steps in getting there. There will be another section showing other projects completed both on my own and from the students in the Institute.
Be well and see you soon! – Trell
